November 2018 – Has it happened to you that just after giving God public praise for something specific, you seem to have that same area of life unravel at your fingertips?  If you’ve experienced that, then you’ll know what I mean by what I’m about to say.

We try to publish a quarterly newsletter for friends and family who are praying for us.  In the most recent letter, I wrote how Lois and I were both experiencing increased physical health here in Dakar.  Well, it seems as if that was an invitation to the dark powers to put our faith to the test.  Since September 20, one of us has been afflicted with one physical problem or another.  Here is a list of what I can recall:  headache, chest cold, sinus congestion, ingrown toe and subsequent loss of that toenail, blurred vision, eye strain, insomnia, fatigue…

Irrespective of whatever physical ailments we may have, God is bigger.  He is upholding us in the very palm of His hand (Isa 41:10; John 10:29).  That means, even in weakness, because I am His, I can rest within the knowledge of His love and care for me.  It isn’t my performance that matters to Father God.  What matters is my attitude and my surrender to Him, whatever befalls me.  “Father, thank you for your healing touch which has brought me through to health once again.  Please help me to keep my eyes on you, regardless of pain or inconvenience I may face.  Amen”

August 2018 – Since moving to Dakar three months back, I have seen God’s hand at work in many ways.  One way He showed Himself is in the provision of a fantastic home for Lois and me.  The neighbors are kind and helpful people, without whom, we would not have had such a smooth transition to Dakar and ICF.  God provided this arrangement for us.

One other way God’s hand has been so clearly shown to us is in the welcome we’ve received from our new ICF family.  Many have given us their personal words of welcome.  A very tangible pantry shower for us was arranged prior to our arrival.  Many gave so we could have food in our fridge the very first day!  God is so good to us!  Thank you ICF family!

If you are not already part of our ICF Family and looking for a church home while you’re living in Dakar, check out ICF.  We are a bunch of friendly Jesus-followers who believe that we have been brought to Dakar for this unique time in history.  We seek to welcome all who name Jesus as Lord, regardless of denominational background.  Let’s bring glory to Jesus as we worship him together in unity and harmony!
